    ONCE THEY’RE GONE, THEY’RE GONE

In honour of those first two bandstands, we’re offering a reduced price when you purchase a pair.

This brick represents the zinc-clad roof and brick walls of Britain’s first two bandstands, built using a combination of these materials to create a rare and valuable public space for music, theatre, and events.

The first two bandstands in Britain were built for the 1862 International Exhibition, one of which moved to Southwark Park in 1889 after the local community demanded provision for public music!

In 1999, the bandstand was meticulously reconstructed using the original detailed drawings, resulting in the structure we see today. The domed zinc roof provides a durable shield against rain, while the flat soffit is shaped to project sound outward to the audience. The stepped brick foundations and perimeter walls form a raised platform that enhances visibility and further supports the projection of music across the park.

Cast by Maybrey Reliance, each brick comes with a numbered edition certificate and three postcards depicting the casting process, shot by Carmel King.

Available on pre-order from 14:00 Thursday 13th November 2025. Bricks will be dispatched on 27th November 2025.
