Solid aluminium bronze brick, cast in homage to two lesser-known materials that form one of London’s most iconic landmarks.

Representing the aluminium bronze railings and hidden brickwork of St Paul’s Cathedral, this piece celebrates the two lesser-known materials that complement its iconic Portland stone exterior. Introduced over 300 years apart, both materials are chosen for their properties rather than appearance alone.

 

Firstly, the cathedral’s famous dome conceals two brick shells, a lighter and more efficient solution introduced after settlement was detected during construction. Then more than 300 years later, aluminium bronze was selected for the railings of the cathedral’s first permanent accessible entrance, a material chosen for its strength and corrosion resistance.

 

Walk the perimeter today and see how generations of craftsmanship and carefully chosen materials have built, repaired and renewed this London landmark.

 

Cast in solid aluminium bronze by Maybrey Reliance and professionally cleaned by Cosmo in Potters Bar. Each comes with a numbered edition card.

 

Available for subscriber pre-order 8:00 Thursday 24th September 2026. Bricks are being cast and cleaned in October, dispatched in November 2026, then never made again…
