This raw cast iron brick marks the one hundred and forty-five year anniversary of James Hoyle & Son's London-based foundry.
Hoyle’s specialise in casting raw, unfinished iron, leaving the selection of finish up to the customer. So, to honour the skill and talent at Hoyle’s, we’re releasing a raw, unfinished cast iron brick for the first and only time. Paint, wax, lacquer or engrave at your will.
The foundry has operated alongside Regent’s Canal in Hackney since 1880 and encompasses age-old traditional casting methods that have been handed down from generation to generation.
Each brick comes with a numbered edition certificate and three postcards depicting the casting process at James Hoyle & Son’s foundry. Foundry photography by Carmel King.
The limited edition bricks are available on pre-order only from 14:00 on Thursday 1st May to midnight 31st May 2025. All bricks will be cast in June 2025 and dispatched in July 2025.
